London-born Nigerian producer and singer-songwriter, Maleek Berry, donned his 93/94 Gunners shirt to bring the house down at a TIDAL x Arsenal Rising event in Shoreditch last night.
TIDAL signed a deal to become Arsenal’s official music streaming partner in June, offering exclusive benefits to the club’s members such as free subscriptions and invites to exclusive events.
This event, TIDAL x Arsenal: Maleek Berry, took place at Village Underground in Shoreditch and saw PAPITO performing hits such as “Pon My Mind”, his new single “Gimme Life”, “Eko Miami (feat. ‘Geko)” from his debut EP Last Daze of Summer and a rendition of Bob Marley’s “Turn the Lights Down Low”.
The Afropop sensation was supported by DJ Juls, who dropped the likes of Burna Boy’s “Ye” and “Soké”, Vybez Kartel’s “Fever” and “Dark Vader” by J Hus, and later brought out Ikes to perform “They Know (Wan Mo)”, followed by a surprise performance from Chip for “Love U Long Time”.
While the Maleek Berry show was the first event to be run collaboratively by TIDAL and Arsenal, the Rising program has been running since 2015 and is dedicated to artists from around the globe who have passionate fan bases and are ready to reach a wider audience with their music.
